Status update and what is to come!!!
I apologize to everybody who has visited this blog and hasn't seen an update in 29 days! In my defense, however, I am writing two (2) huge papers (7000-8000 words) for two of my classes one of which is due May 7th and the other on May 11th, so I had to put the blog on hiatus.
HOWEVER, this blog will get rolling again (insha'allah) with what I hope will be some very beneficial entries.
Ajurumiyyah
First, due to the rather positive reaction that uploading the Shariah Program Year 1 recordings got, I am also going to go ahead and upload files to a class that I took with Seekers Guidance a little over a year ago called "Introduction to Arabic Grammar: A Thematic Overview of the Ajrumiyya, A Classic Primer" When the course is offered, it is free (due to the Seekers Guidance "Knowledge Without Barriers Initiative"). However, it is not being offered right now so I want to make it available to everyone since I know that (nearly) EVERYONE wants to study the Ajurumiyyah, while this won't be a detailed study of the Ajurumiyyah, it should serve you well once you do get a chance to study it. The course had video and audio files as well as powerpoint slides. I think that anyone who has studied book 1 of the Madinah series (or its equivalent) will find it easy to follow and very beneficial (insha'allah).
Arabic Tutor ("Arbi Ka Muallim") English (and Arabic) Answer Key Project!
Second, I plan on enlisting the help of brothers and sisters visiting this blog and on online forums to create an English answer key for the wonderful 4 volume set of books known originally as "Arbi Ka Muallim" but which are sold in the West under the name "Arabic Tutor" ( you can download it here: http://www.kalamullah.com/learning-arabic.html or purchase it here: http://www.al-rashad.com/Arabic-Tutor--Part-1-thru-4-Arabic-Grammer-Text-Book_p_2315.html ). There is no answer key available to english-speaking students doing the exercises in the book but I intend on creating one with the help of my brothers and sisters (insha'allah). I will make the key available as it becomes available...it will be a work in progress for all to view and benefit from (insha'allah).
Book Reviews
Lastly, insha'allah I will begin regularly reviewing books that are either commonly used for learning Arabic in the West or are very good for this purpose, especially for "self-learners." In addition to reviewing the texts, I plan on making suggestions for how to best use them as well highlighting which topics, chapters, etc. are particularly well-done while which ones are done rather poorly so as to alert the learner to when they may need to use supplements, focus more, etc.
All of this to begin in the next 2-3 weeks insha'allah.
Please keep me in your duas.
Wa'salaam
